From a Helicopter in the Outback to Team WebWork
Back in the early 90s, I was helicopter mustering in outback North Queensland. One day, I landed in Caloundra to say goodbye to a mate. As I was leaving, he said,
“Hey Andrew, there’s something coming you might be interested in. It’s called the internet.”
I didn’t get it at the time. He tried to explain, but it didn’t click. Still — that moment stuck with me.
A few years later, after moving to Cairns, I remembered that conversation. I got online as soon as I could. By 1998, I’d built my first website. From there, things snowballed — some of those early sites attracted millions of visitors a month. I built and sold multiple online businesses and started one of the Sunshine Coast’s largest web development companies.
That Time I Chatted with Google Before It Was Google
Not many people can say they spoke with Google’s marketing manager before the company even launched — when they were still working out of a garage. At the time, it didn’t mean much. Now, I can see it for what it was: a rare moment in tech history.
Google in those days was a completely different beast — no ads, no distractions, just an insanely good search engine. I benefited hugely from that era, ranking sites, driving traffic, and building multi-million dollar businesses before most people had even heard of SEO.
The internet has changed massively since then. And now, we’re at the start of another huge shift — the age of AI.
The Launch of Team WebWork
On Friday, 8 August 2025, at 8:11pm, we officially launched Team WebWork.
Yep, we’re brand new — but with a ton of horsepower under the hood. Not inexperienced, just battle-tested from decades in the game, building, running, and selling successful online businesses.
In fact, while the Team WebWork name is new, many of us have been working together — both individually and as part of teams — for well over 25 years. These are longstanding, trusted relationships built over countless projects, late nights, and big wins.
Behind the name is a global crew with over 100 years of combined experience in:
- Hosting (including some of the fastest, most secure hosting in Australia and beyond)
- Outsourced Project Management
- Website Rescue and Relaunch
- Strategy, Branding and Growth
- Conversion-Focused Web Design
- WordPress Support and Security
- Automation and smart workflows
We’re not just a web development company — we’re problem-solvers, strategists, and builders who know how to turn ideas into something real in a world where “fake experts” are everywhere.
Why We Don’t Take On Every Project
We’re not for everyone — and that’s a good thing. It’s not about being “above” anyone. It’s about making sure we can genuinely do justice to your vision.
If we take on your project, it’s because we believe we can:
- Bring the right skills and experience to the table
- Work with you in a way that’s clear, open, and productive
- Fully understand your goals and how to reach them
- Be just as invested in the outcome as you are
If we can’t tick those boxes, we’d rather be upfront from the start. That way, no one wastes time, energy, or money on something that won’t be the best it can be.
