What's On Your Agenda For 2012?
|
![]() 2011 has been a most interesting year to say the least. Throughout the year, I found myself doing much soul searching (some may call it a mid-life crisis) but I believe it is because we are entering very interesting times with much change on the horizon. Food for thought... I recently read a book called "The Great Disruption" written by Paul Gilding. I found it to be a great read as it offered a stark and unflinching look at the challenges humanity faces sooner rather than later. It reinforces my belief that climate change is not the core problem but more so the world's economy being totally reliant on infinite unsustainable growth.
Where to from here? It's time to stop just worrying about climate change, says Paul Gilding. Instead we need to brace for the impact, because a global crisis is no longer avoidable. It is not simply about fossil fuels and carbon footprints anymore, we have come to the end of Economic Growth version 1.0 and a world economy based on consumption and waste, where we live beyond the planet's ecosystems and resources.
Many paint a dim picture for 2012 with all sorts of weird predictions. I don't think the world is going to end as some would suggest but I do believe we are going to experience massive change and I think as the name of the book suggests, we will experience much disruption.
Those who are not ready and willing to accept positive, beneficial change will experience quite difficult times ahead I believe, but for those who understand and accept that we must change our ways for the betterment of our planet and all living creatures that live upon it will find much fulfillment and happiness. Here are links to a couple of videos that I am sure will give you food for thought. What's on your agenda for 2012? I wish you a fit and healthy 2012 with lots of laughter and happiness.
Take care and I look forward to seeing you on the other side in 2012. Your comments and Positive feedback welcomed
